Through this lab I have had the opportunity to gain a greater knowledge of what calories actually are. What calories are is the energy needed to rise one gram of water one degree Celsius. Calorimetry is the measurement of this energy transfer. What we did was test the calories in graham crackers, cheezeits, and and tortilla chips. We placed each of these foods underneath a soda can filled with 50 ml of water. Then we would light each of the foods then record the change in temperature of the water and also the change of mass of food. We calculated the energy gained by the water through the equation q=mc∆t. Q is the energy gained. M is the mass of the food. ∆t is the change in temperature of water. Our findings where not as accurate as they could have been because the flame was not contained so some of the heat could have gotten away from the water. Also we were not diligent with wiping off the soot of the can which would change the mass of the can. What also happend was we would sometimes light the food while having the lighter under the can. So the water was absorbing energy from the lighter not just the food. Here is an example of a tortilla chip.

My semester has been a frenzy of self lead projects, B.O.L.T.S, and inquiry blocks. I can honestly say that I have accomplished more this term then a far long while. If the first years of mosaic where a learning to love learning and dive as deep as possible for one project. This semester has been a learning of how to better manage my time between multiple projects.
This semester started with first only focusing on Bolts. I was make sure that I could finish my all of my work for the three short classes. When me and another student and I had the idea to create a car company. So we started drawing up ideas for the look. We made several skethces until we found the shape we liked. Then the other student and I started learning basic C.A.D. I then started drawing up the frame from a Ford Gt. We are know waiting to 3-D print up our model of the new one piece frame. I continued to work hard on my Bolts when Mr.Schneider had asked if I was still wanting to do AP english. So I had to read several non-fiction works; and several multiple page papers almost one a week in fact. While this was all going on I needed to finish some science projects. So I joined a experiment to find the caliores of cheese-itz, preztals, and graham crakers. This semester has not been easy but it has been fun. This first couple of weeks have been hard to get back into the swing of the things, with surgery last Thursday and was sick two days this week. In addition with feeling behind it has felt that everyone else is getting used to the mosaic system. So all in all I am ready to get back in the swing of things.
The process of making everything I have completed during high school is inherently difficult for me. For this entire process is about showing off what has been accomplished. I am not a person who likes to flaunt my achievements. I would rather get the stuff done and never take credit for it. That is not to say I don't take credit when I am forced to. And that is what this entire website is for me. Taking credit for some of the works I am extremely proud of.
Looking back through my entire body of work in Mosaic. I was astonished with the amount of failures, or just what I consider unsatisfactory projects. What was interesting about this discovery for me was the fact I wasn't upset about these in the slightest. Yet rather I found it funny how I would have the beginning of something that I still think could be interesting and all of a sudden it ends. I wonder what went through my mind to just stop. What conclusion I came to was as I was doing research or writing for these projects someone or something must have peaked my interest, and all of a sudden I change gears and do research in that area. The very next thought that went passing by my brain was only in Mosaic could such freedom exist. However this may sound like a negative attribute of my personality, I would argue otherwise. For if I had not explored many different avenues I wouldn't have the same amount of positive worthy to talk about projects. My take away from yesterday was hopefully I could find away to finish or improve some of those unsatisfactory projects.
